Sheldon is looking forward to March 2019 when he will be returning to Semper Zwei for seven performances of "Trouble in Tahiti" by Bernstein. He last sang in this production with Semper Zwei back in the Fall of 2017, so he is excited to brush up the choreo and music for this delightful show.
All performers from the original production will be back, so it is destined to be a delightful experience for all on stage as well as the audience.

Canadian baritone, Sheldon Baxter is a Masters of Music graduate (2015) from the University of British Columbia, Canada. While enrolled there he performed multiple roles including: Giorgio Germont (La Traviata), Revírník (Příhody lišky Bystroušky), Emilio (Il cappello di paglia di Firenze), Dapertutto (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Bogdanovitch (Die lustige Witwe), and Lovec (Rusalka). Also a regular soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra for their Traditional Christmas Concert series from 2011-2014, he joined them for semi-staged performances in 2012 as Male Singer (The Inventor), and in 2015 as Maximilian (Candide). After graduating, he traveled to Ireland to perform the roles of Peter (Hansel & Gretel) and Deuxième Archer (Le Pre aux clercs) at the 2015 Wexford Festival Opera.
Mr. Baxter made his Czech operatic debut in 2013 singing the roles of Revírník (Příhody Lišky Bystroušky) and Escamillo (Carmen) with the European Music Academy in Teplice, CZ. He joined them again in 2015 as Giorgio Germont (La Traviata) and Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro). He returned to the Czech Republic for the 2016/17 season of Pilsen Opera where he sang the role of Eugene Onegin (Eugene Onegin).
Sheldon made his German operatic debut at the 2016 Gut Immling Sommerfestspiele performing the roles of Le Dancaïre (Carmen), 2. Bursche (Der Mond), Sprecher/2. Priester (Die Zauberflöte), and Goffredo (Rinaldo). He recently returned to Immling for their 2018 season to perform Kilian/Samiel (Der Freiscütz). He made his debut with Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen in May 2017 in the role of Mac for their 7th Stadtteil Oper (Menuchim's Reise) and partnered with them again in July 2017 singing the role of Oberon (Ein Sommernachtstraum). Other performances in Germany include the role of Peter (Jesus Christ Superstar) with Landestheater Niederbayern for their 2016/17 season.
Sheldon recently made his Dresden debut with Semperoper Dresden in their 2017-18 season performing the roles of Baritone (Trouble in Tahiti) and Oscar/Kit Kat Boy (Cabaret). In June 2018 he jumped into the role of Dancairo (Carmen) for two performances on the Semperoper Mainstage. Other performances in Dresden include singing the title role of Don Giovanni with Szene12 in August 2018 which received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Upcoming roles include Gustave in the European premiere of Bolcom's Dinner at Eight with the Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland, and Baritone (Trouble in Tahiti) and Oscar/Kit Kat Boy (Cabaret) with Semper Zwei in Dresden, Germany.
Sheldon has trained in the vocal studios of bass-baritone Norman Bailey, soprano Kristine Ciesinski, and more recently baritone Peter Barcza.
