LIFE IS A CABARET

They say that all good things come in threes. A trilogy of sorts. Well, if so then this show is a good things, as it’s our third installment of it over the past couple years. I consider myself lucky to have been apart of it.

This was my very first show in Dresden, where I’ve lived for the past 4 years. I noticed an audition posting online for a singer/dancer and I thought, “well, why not?!”. I started stretching out my old body and put together a few song choices, a dance routine, and a monologue in the German language.

The audition went well, and I even got a nice compliment of sorts from the director of the show, Manfred, who said “well, I understood what you said in your monologue.” Thank heavens for that! I was relieved that he at least understood my attempt at the German language. It was good enough to land me not only a small part in “Cabaret”, but also a part in a second show, “Trouble in Tahiti”.

I’ve very much enjoyed my time with this show and all the other folks I have gotten to perform with. Everyone really brought their own uniqueness to the production. Luckily we all got along quite well, which isn’t always the case, but we often got together for Tapas and shared enthusiastic conversations.

I don’t know if this show is going to come back again or if it will get shelved for a while, but perhaps I will get to lace up my purple boots again and high kick my way through a few more nights of some wonderful numbers.
